An early Wooden Mines Rescue battery powered Lamp. Size 8″ x 4″ x 3″.
It is made of Mahogany Wood with a leather strap handle, it has an hinged front to access the battery and the terminals are at the back of the front panel. The lamp is switched to on/off when you twist the front lens housing clock-wise to anti clock-wise. This lamp features one of the very first lightbulbs to be invented, by Joseph Swan in the early 1880s.
