An old Mines Rescue canary container and cage.
Made from tin, wood, aluminium and glass. Size 9″ x 7″ x 7″ inches.
This old reinforced container is made of tin, wood and aluminium. The inside of the box has 2 spring clips to hold the cage tight inside the outer box. It has four green tinted armoured glass portholes and a number of air-holes. The cage has aluminium feeding and water trays and a wooden perch. May have been used around 1910 to 1920’s?
