Hayden Nilos Strap Tensioner.
Made from steel with bakelite handles. Size 9′ x 1 1/2″ inches.
These tensioners were used along with the Hayden Nilos straps, a strip of alloy metal in various widths and lengths, though normally 1/2″ inch with a buckle type attachment at one end. The strap would go around the end of a water bag or hose inserted onto a water pump and tensioned using this tool to prevent it from coming off, similar to a jubilee clip. The excess was also cut off using the small guillotine at the bottom end of the same tool.
