A Miners Tobacco Tin.
An oval shaped design miners tobacco tin. Miners used to keep their chewing tobacco in these tins. With a hinged snap closed lid. The tin was the property of Harry Selby of Abertillery, his name is engraved on the lid.

Mr Harry Selby.
Henry (Harry) Selby born 1891 was a stone masons labourer. Born in Bressingham, Norfolk, England, he came to Abertillery, on the 1911 census he was lodging in 10 Preston Street. He married Margaret Reardon in 1913, they had a son Harry born June 1914. During the first world war he joined the forces – Private Harry Selby, 4th Welsh Regiment. He came home after the war and was living at 3 Winifred Terrace, Cwmtillery. In 1931 he was listed on the electoral register as living at Cwmtillery Club, he may have been steward there for a year. In 1932 they were living at Fairview Terrace, Cwmtillery (close to Club Row and Crook Hill). Their son Harry Jnr married Carmella Gardner in 1934 and they all lived together at Fairview Terrace until Henry (Harry) died in 1954, he’s buried at St Pauls, Cwmtillery. The family lived at Fairview until 1969 when the records stopped.
