A Bathgate miners helmet, black coloured version.
Made from highly compressed pulp card with a ribbed top, leather sweatband, cotton webbing and a metal cable clip at the back. Size 6.
Made by Richard A. Bathgate, London Life Building, Derby Square, Liverpool. The manufacturers name and patent is stamped into the rim of the helmet. Used throughout the 1950’sĀ 60’s.
The cap-lamp holder is attached to a bracket rivetedĀ to the front of the helmet.
