A Celebrity Concert Programme – 1933.
A signed concert programme for a celebrity concert held at the Methodist Church, High Street, Blaina on Wednesday 13th of September 1933 in aid of the Cwmcelyn Methodist Renovation Fund.
Mr Arthur Fear.
The programme is signed by Mr Arthur Fear (Baritone) of Blaina who was one of the guest artistes. At the concert Mr Fear sang “Arm Arm ye Brave” by Handel, “Prince Igor’s Aria” by Borodine and he sang with Miss Laura Larne “The Manly Heart”, by Mozart, a duet from the Magic Flute. The Blaina Male Voice Party sang “Delyn Aur” by D. Pugh Evans.
Other artistes included Miss Laura Larne (Soprano); Miss Megan Lloyd (Solo Violoncellist); Miss Mary McDonald Taylor (Elocutionist) and Mr Mansel Thomas (Accompanist): Also featuring the Blaina Male Voice Party with Mr Alban Evans (Conductor) and Madame Rogers-Hamilton A.L.C.M.; The chairman was Mr T. Huggins. The programme was printed by Jenkins of Blaina.
