A Miners Curling Box.
Made from sheet metal. Size 20″ x 18″ x 8″ inches.
This curling box was hand-made and formed from one piece of sheet metal held together with just one hand made rivet. All the sharp edges has been folded over and has a cut-out side handle hole formed each side.
These boxes were used before mechanisation to carry the coal from the coal face to the drams. This curling box came from an old ironmongers shop in Somerset Street, Abertillery.
