A Deer Bone Awl

A Deer Bone Awl.  This deer bone awl is from Menifee County, Kentucky, U.S.A. Made from deer bone. Size 5″ x 3/8″ inches. Age unknown.    This awl was used to puncture holes into animal hide to thread sinew and such for tying together for clothing or dwelling coverings etc. The awl is highly polished and scarred through use.
