Colliery Surface Table Telephone.
A miners table telephone with a crank handle, used for surface to underground or surface to surface communication.
The front label states how to use the phone as follows – To call turn handle and lift handset… When finished replace handset and turn handle. The back of the telephone has a makers plate (as seen above) which states its maker, use and identification numbers etc.
Made from black coloured bakelite manufactured by Ericsson.
Dated 31st March 1949.
