Medieval Pilgrims Holy Water Lead Flask.
This type of holy water flask was called an Ampulla. Taken on pilgrimages and filled with holy water.
Made from lead. Size 2″ x 1 1/2″ inches.
Dated 12th -17th century.
This was the common type now flattened from years being buried below ground and damaged from ploughing. The other types are much rarer and embossed with fancy patterns.
