Miners Baths Slippers.
Made from cork and PVC. Size 11″ x 4 1/2″ inches.
These slippers were issued by the N.C.B in the 1950’s – 60’s to be used while showering to combat the risk of verruca’s and athletes foot. The cork and PVC material was prone to drying-out and splitting, causing cuts and chaffing to the miners feet. In the 1970’s the N.C.B. introduced the foam rubber flip-flops, coloured grey (soles) and black (strap).
