Mr J. B. Price, Coal Merchant – Six Bells, Abertillery.
A receipt for the delivery of two 5okg bags of coal.
The cost of the two bags of coal in 1986 were £15.50p equivalent to £44.73p in today’s money.
Dated 31st January 1986.
This receipt was ours when we lived at No.16 Arael View, Abertillery. It was a month after the Rose Heyworth Colliery officially closed and the N.C.B. coal allowance scheme had ceased. All ex-miners had to buy their own coal from that point, though many including myself used some of the redundancy money paid to us upon the closure of the colliery on paying for a domestic gas heating conversion.
