Mr Simons was a furniture dealer, founder of the Jewish Synagogue at Abertillery. Mr Simons was born in Vienna, Austria, he came to Brynmawr at fifteen years of age. He later moved to Abertillery and married Miss Priscilla Lyons of Newport and opened a furniture business in Abertillery. His business grew and he later moved into Bristol House, High Street, Abertillery.
Bristol House was in High Street, Abertillery, situated where Iceland Store is today, it was demolished to build the new Messrs F. W. Woolworth Store.
