Mr Matthew Habakkuk – Colliery Agent and Mining Engineer.
Mr Matthew Habakkuk was born on the 26th of March 1790 at Llangyfelach, Swansea, Glamorganshire, South Wales, the son of John Habakkuk II and Margaret Habakkuk nee Thomas.

On the 20th of June 1817, Mr Matthew Habakkuk married Miss Margaret John of Llangyfelach, Swansea, Glamorganshire, South Wales.

David Habakkuk, son (1820-1873). David Habakkuk married Miss Mary Jane Guest on the 12th of April 1856, Miss Guest was the daughter of Thomas Guest of Blaina, an agent of the Dowlais and Nantyglo Ironworks. David became a manager at Nantyglo Ironworks.
William Habakkuk, son (1821-1874). William Habakkuk married Miss Laura Johns on the 22nd of June 1851.
George Habakkuk, son (1824-1824).
Mary Habakkuk, daughter (1826-1907).
Ann Habakkuk, daughter (1828-1911). Mary Habakkuk married Thomas Portrey Bevan on the 21st of July 1875.
Jane Elizabeth Habakkuk, daughter (1834-1890). Jane Elizabeth Habakkuk married John Brock on the 9th of February 1856.
Margaret Matilda Habakkuk, daughter (1837-1924). Margaret Matilda Habakkuk married Richard James Rees on the 19th of November 1867.
Mr Matthew Habakkuk at Nantyglo.
In 1839 Mr Matthew Habakkuk moved to Nantyglo, in about 1841 he moved to Blaina and in the late 1840’s he became an underground engineer for Messrs T. P. & D. Price at the Penybont Colliery and moved to Cwmtillery, later living at Troed Rhiw Lladron.
The Death of Mr Matthew Habakkuk.
On Sunday 24th of November 1861, Matthew Habakkuk sadly passed away. It was reported that Mr Habakkuk was walking to the Baptist Chapel for divine service when he was observed to fall, he was assisted though it was said life was extinct. On Thursday 28th of November 1861, Mr Matthew Habakkuk was buried at St Peters Church, Blaina, Monmouthshire.
The Death of Mrs Margaret Habakkuk.
On the 9th of July 1894, Mrs Margaret Habakkuk passed away at Oystermouth, Glamorganshire, South Wales.
