Paleolithic Hand Axe.
This is a very early Acheulian elongate bifacial hand axe from the Northern Sahara Desert.
This hand axe still has most of its intact elongate tip with just the end missing, snapped off in antiquity which most of these hand axes suffer.
Made from quartzite. Size 6″ x 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ inches.
Dated to the Lower Paleolithic period 1,200,000 – 900.000 BC.
