Six Bells Colliery Aerial Ropeway – Lower Section and Colliery Washery.
The map shows the lower section of the aerial ropeway and filling station situated between the river and sidings. The route of the aerial ropeway can be seen going between the Arael School and houses on Aberbeeg Road at Warm Turn.
In December 1924 great concern of falling buckets from the rope-way close to the houses prompted a resident to file a petition to have the colliery company have a more secure and better protective bridge. Though this couldn’t have put much pressure on the company has in January 1931 the argument for a secure bridge was raised again when a survey was carried out and found that over a few months eleven buckets had fell from the flight and four of those fell on the road by the school.
