The newspaper stated that the Liberal Club, in previous seasons had captured the Western Valley’s Championship but their superiority was so pronounced that they had been heavily handicapped, so the were obliged to relenquish possession of the shield. They were however a more balanced team than either of those in the Inter-Club Championship and so secured the shield that was presented to them, as seen in the photograph.
