Medieval Thimbles. These thimbles are what’s known as “open top” thimble and a “beehive” thimble. The open top thimble is the oldest design of the two. Made from bronze.  Dated 12th – 15th century.

A Medieval Axe Head. Made from iron. Size 8″ x 2 3/4″ inches. Dated 11th – 15th century. This axe has a makers mark (as seen left).

Unknown Clay Ball. Made from a terracotta clay material. Size 2 1/2″ inches. Date unknown. This clay ball was found in the river close to Waltham Abbey, Essex in the early 1970’s. A Medieval Razor. This medieval razor has a tanged handle and has makers marks on the blade (as seen left). Made of iron. Size 5″ x 1 1/2″ inches. Date unknown. 

A Small Horn Handle. This small horn is drilled out to be put on a tanged tool.  Made from an animal horn. Size 5″ inches.  Date unknown.

Hand Made Harness Buckle. Made from Iron. Size 3″ inches. Date unknown. 

Early Medieval Stirrup. Made from iron. Size 5″ inches. Age unknown.  This piece has been dipped in an acid bath by the previous owners restorer to remove the rust, something I wouldn’t recommend for the restoration of old objects, it ruins their appearance and patina.
