Vestinautilus Nautiloid. Vestinautilus Nautiloid. A Squid like creature in a shell housing. Similar to an Ammonite but survived much earlier. Fossil size 3 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ inches. The early Carboniferous Period – 350 million years ago.

Bifericeras Ammonite. Bifericeras Ammonite within a stone matrix. A Squid like creature in a shell housing. Size of matrix 4″ x 3″ inches. The early Jurassic Period – 200 million years ago.

Pavlovia Ammonite. Pavlovia Ammonite. A Squid like creature in a shell housing. Fossil size 2 1/2″ x 3/4″ inches. The late Jurassic to early Cretaceous Period – 150 million years ago.

Douvilleiceras Ammonite. Douvilleiceras Ammonite. A Squid like creature in a shell housing. It had a hard strong and robust shell. Fossil size 2 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ inches. The early Cretaceous Period – 150 million years ago.

Dactylioceras Ammonite. Dactylioceras Ammonite. A Squid like creature in a shell housing. In medieval times these fossils were thought to be petrified Snakes. This fossil shown has a negative and positive matrix. Fossil size 3″ x 2 1/2″ inches. The early Jurassic Period – 220 million years ago.

Belemnite. A Belemnite within a stone matrix, Belemnites and Squids belong to a diverse group of Cephalopods which includes Cuttlefish and Octopus. The group has an internal chambered shell enclosed by soft muscular tissue. Size of matrix 5″ x 3″ inches. Ranging from the Devonian Period – 400 million years to the Cretaceous Period 100 million years ago.

Neuropteris. This Neuropteris fossil was found in the waste from the Rosemont Coal Levels behind Attlee Avenue, Rose Heyworth, Abertillery. Fossil size 5″ x 4″ inches. The Carboniferous Period – 354 million years to 290 million years ago.

Neuropteris. This Neuropteris fossil was found in the waste from the Rosemont Coal Levels behind Attlee Avenue, Roseheyworth, Abertillery. Fossil size 5″ x 4″ inches. This fossil is actually on the reverse of the other Neuropteris matrix. The Carboniferous Period – 354 million years to 290 million years ago.
