Eusphenopteris. The Eusphenopteris was one of the seed ferns, small round lobed leafy foliage and grew to about 17′ feet in height. Fossil size 4″ x 4″ inches. The middle Carboniferous Period – 350 million years ago.    

Archaeopteris. Archaeopteris was one of the first trees on Earth, a small plant with a leafy foliage and grew to about 33′ feet in height. Fossil size 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ inches. The Devonian Period – 417 million to 354 million years ago.

Annularia Sphenophylloides. This Annularia sphenophylloides fossil was found at the top end of the Cwmtillery Valley in the waste from the Gilfach Green Coal Level (Blaentillery Farm Level). Fossil size 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ inches. The Annularia Sphenophylloides fossil resembles a Daisy Chain, though it originally grew as individual flowering heads on one stem. Alethopteris Fern. The Alethopteris Fern was found in hot swampy areas, the plant grew to about 17′ feet in height.  Fossil size 3″ x 2″ inches. The Carboniferous Period – 354 million years to 290 million years ago.
