A Plough Punch. Made from iron. Size 9″ x 1″ inches tapering to a 1/4″ of an inch. This punch was used to knock the pins out of the coal cutter head that held the cutter bits into the plough coal cutter (used on the Garw coal seams). This punch came from Rose Heyworth Colliery, Abertillery. 

A Coal Cutter Bit. Made from iron and tungsten. Size 6″ x 1 1/2″ inches. The word “Padloy Sulmet” is embossed into the side of the pick.

A Coal Cutter Bit. Made from iron and tungsten. Size 3″ x 2″ inches. This is a double tipped coal cutter bit.

Hardypick Rock Borer. A blast compressed air rock borer type B6 made by Hardypick Limited. Made from iron and spring steel with a rubber handle. Size 21″ x 7″ inches. Weight 18kgs.  This Borer is featured in the Hardy’s 1953 tool catalogue listed as – Simplex Hammer Drill for wet or dry drilling. The Hardy firm was founded in 1870 …

Coal Mining Rock Borer Drill Bits. Made from iron and tungsten. Sizes – Large 4″ x 2″ inches. Small 2 1/2″ x 2″ inches. The smaller bit has two points for drilling and two water infusion holes. The larger one has three points with two water infusion holes. The both bits have an internal screw thread.
