Dog Nails. Made from iron. Size 3″ inches long. These iron dog nails were used to secure the rails to wooden sleepers underground. You would hammer them into the wooden sleepers one each side of the rail. They became obsolete when the iron sleepers with bolted rail tabs were introduced into the industry.
